The Tape – Martha Tilston

  • Landown Hall and Gallery Lansdown Stroud, GL5 1BB (map)

The Tape is written and directed by folk musician Martha Tilston who is also the lead actor. After the screening Martha will discuss and answer questions as well as give a live performance of some of her songs. In the film she plays Tally Green, Cornwall’s worst cleaner, who is living in a van and making ends meet. When she gets a job at an empty cliff-top house, she is drawn to the piano and moves in, beginning to write music inspired by its poetic owner, and recording it on an old 4-track machine. The film is full of Tilston’s wonderful music. “Sharp, original songs that dissect the modern world. Tilston captures both the harshness and enchantment of life. The Tape is a true feat of creativity, with Martha recording the soundtrack in scene on-set, whilst shooting and starring in the film”.
